More about Bruce Terry:"REENACTOR Questionnaire Name: Bruce “Terry” Voyles Age: 60 Sex: Male ` Race: White Religion: Baptist Location: 10466 Noddy Tern Road, Weeki Wachee, Florida 34613 Education Level: College degree Education Married I am a teacher at Hudson High School and was the Head Football coach for Hudson High School. I was the offensive line coach at Pasco High state Champs Started as a school bus driver, teacher assistant, and graduated from University of South Florida in 1993 to be a teacher of students with specific learning disabilities. I also enjoy Fishing, coaching and selling military surplus. I have a great deal of knowledge of World War II and I own 1942 Jeep, I have a desire to learn as much about the daily life of the American Soldier in Europe. ______________________________________________ I have been reenacting for Three Years. My character is One, Old Cavalry man. I consider myself a Reenactor enthusiast because My love of history and the World War II veterans. I only do World War II only. I try and do something at lease Once a month if possible. We reenact all over the state of Florida and I have been to events in Georgia and Pennsylvania. I reenact because my father, step-father, 6 uncles that were in World War II. Two of my uncles were killed. One was killed on Omaha Beach on D-day and the other at New Georgi...Expand for more
a Island, near Mundi air field. My Uncle Chester was captured at Kassarine Pass. I do reenactment to honor my family that served in WWII and to meet the World War II veterans and to keep their story alive. And that is why I got into reenacting. The farthest I have traveled to reenact was Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania. The most memorable Reenacting experience was Operation Olive in Georgia in 2005 we did a flanking movement that put us behind German lines. We set up a skirmish line caught the Germans in Hammer and Anvil movement. We were instrumental in beating the Germans early in the day. I would like to mention that last summer we were invited to the 125 year reunion of the 6th Cavalry at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. We met the last of the real pony solders. They made the transition from horses to a mechanized unit. They told stories of the horses and camp dogs. We were accepted by these great men and were asked back next year. They made us honorary members of the real 6th Cavalry which makes us the official reenactment group of the 6th Cavalry. Cool. My worst Reenacting experience was at the same event as above, the Germans tried to trick us by getting on the radio and saying that a new scnerio was starting. We were awarded 250 pts for trapping the Germans. But at the time we were upset at catching the Germans trying to cheat. My wife goes to the dances and plans to get a WAVE officers uniform to honor her dad, which was in the Navy. People always want to know why a man of my age is doing reenactments. This is my hobby, not my life. We give credit to the veterans of WWII. It is all about them not us. I want Americans to never forget what these guys did for us. We represent the good and honor of men that gave their all to protect a way of life that we love.".

My Uncle Chester was another hero of mine. He joined with my dad in 1939 and they served together untill he was captured at Kasserine Pass. He told me that the allied forces almost killed him more times than the Germans.
